Here is the continuation of my tasting notes for the wines that I sampled at the Wine Bloggers’ Conference last month that I will be including in my list of varietals for the submission for membership into the Wine Century Club.wwc-demi

7.  Chenin Blanc, 2011 vintage Ernie Els Big Easy White, South Africa: minerality and citrus on the nose and palate, plus flavours of apple and tropical fruit, crisp acidity and round mouthfeel with a long finish.

8.  Riesling, 2008 vintage, Reserve, Henry of Pelham, Ontario, Canada: lovely petrol nose with lime. Green apple, lime and minerality on the palate, dry, with crisp acidity and a long finish.DSC_33189.  Vidal (Icewine), 2011 vintage, Lakeview Cellars, Ontario, Canada: clean nose of honey and floral notes, bit of spice and citrus on the palate, not an overwhelming amount of noticeable acidity yet not too cloying either.

10. Vidiano, 2012 vintage, Alexakis Winery, Crete, Greece: citrus, stone fruit and grapefruit on the nose and palate.DSC_346411. Robola, 2012 vintage, Gentilini, Cephalonia, Greece: stone fruit nose, stone fruit and citrus on the palate, with a bit of bitter citrus pith on the back palate.

12. Mavrodaphne, 2003 Vin Doux Naturel Reserve, Parparoussis Winery, Patras, Greece: sweet, oxidative characteristics, cherry and caramel flavours, very tasty with medium-plus acidity.DSC_3471
