I do apologize. As it turns out, I didn’t have quite as much free time as I thought I might while travelling so now I have 70 pages of notes and over 3000 photographs to sift through and organize into a series of blog posts. I did have a fabulous trip, met some lovely people and tasted many many interesting wines. Now that I’m settling back into my regular life I will be attempting to post at least once a week for the next while. My trip included visits to some great wine bars in London (10 Cases, Pix Pintxos, Vinoteca, Terroirs & Dalla Terra) and Paris (Ô Château – OMG, I was in absolute heaven that evening). During my time in the South of France, I put over 2200 kms on my rental car (a fun little Fiat Punto) and visited wineries, cooperatives and vineyards in the following AOCs (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée): La Clape (Coteaux du Languedoc), Fitou, Collioure, Banyuls, Rivesaltes, Côtes d’Agly, Maury, Minervois, St. Chinian, Limoux, Madiran, Côtes de Gascogne, Cahors & Gaillac. During this time I got to experience some unique varietals that I will be adding to my Wine Century Club list, including Savagnin, Mauzac, Ondenc, Petit Manseng, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris and Grenache Noir. Stay tuned for my tasting notes on them!
